Kajabi or custom: choosing a platform for a fitness brand
Every fitness brand hits this decision. Stay on an all in one platform like Kajabi, or move to a custom build. The honest answer is that both are right, at different stages, and choosing well saves you a painful migration later.
When Kajabi is the right call
If you are early, still validating the offer, and need courses, payments and a member area live this month without a developer, Kajabi is hard to beat. It removes decisions and gets you selling. The trade is that you work within its walls: its speed, its templates, its limits, and a cost that climbs as your audience grows.
When a custom build wins
Once the offer is proven and the audience is growing, three things start to matter that an all in one platform struggles with. Speed, because a fast site on infrastructure like Cloudflare converts better and ranks better. Control, because your best ideas stop fitting the template. And cost, because you stop paying more simply for having more visitors. A custom build is yours to shape and does not tax your own growth.
The question is rarely which platform is better. It is which platform fits the stage you are at, and what it will cost to leave.
The migration is the real decision
Moving off a platform is where brands lose rankings, links and members if it is done carelessly. Done properly, with redirects mapped and pages rebuilt to be faster than before, a migration is an upgrade nobody notices except in the numbers. That is the part to plan first, not last.
How we think about it
We build both, so we have no reason to push you one way. Early, we will often put you on Kajabi and get you selling. Growing, we will move you to a custom platform on Cloudflare and make the migration invisible. The right choice is the one that matches where the business actually is, not where it wishes it were.
