Accessibility Statement

UK (ICO)regulatory authority
WCAG 2.1compliance standard
29 April 2026last reviewed

Motivation is committed to making motivation.digital and our mobile application accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology. This statement applies to the full website and all connected services.

1. Our commitment

We aim for our digital services to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, with active work toward WCAG 2.2 conformance. We design, build, and review our services with accessibility as a core requirement and welcome feedback from users about any barriers they encounter.

This statement supports our obligations under the UK Equality Act 2010 (reasonable adjustments duty), the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, enforceable from 28 June 2025), and equivalent accessibility legislation in jurisdictions where our customers are located.

2. Accessibility features

Where reasonably practicable, you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and font sizes through your browser or device settings
  • Stop, pause, or hide moving images and animations
  • Navigate the website with a keyboard alone
  • Listen to website content using a screen reader (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Zoom in up to 200% without loss of information or functionality
  • Use transcripts or closed captions for audio and video materials
  • Download key materials in alternative formats on request

3. Conformance status

motivation.digital is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and progressing toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. The known limitations are listed in section 4.

4. Known limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility gaps and are working to resolve them:

  • Third-party content — some embedded content from third-party providers (including video players, payment widgets, and analytics dashboards) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We have raised these issues with the relevant providers and prioritise vendors who publish their own accessibility commitments.
  • Older documents — some PDF documents and downloadable resources published before 2024 may not be fully accessible. We are updating these on an ongoing basis and provide alternative formats on request.
  • Complex data tables — certain tables in older course materials may lack complete header associations. We are reviewing and updating these.
  • Live or recorded video without captions — while new content is captioned at production, some legacy recordings have not yet been retrofitted with captions or transcripts.
  • WCAG 2.2 new criteria — we are auditing our services against the nine success criteria added in WCAG 2.2 (focus appearance, dragging movements, target size, consistent help, redundant entry, accessible authentication, and others) and will report progress in our annual review.

5. Technical specifications and standards

Accessibility of our services relies on the following technologies working in combination with the assistive tools you use:

  • HTML5 with semantic markup
  • WAI-ARIA where it adds value beyond semantic HTML
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (ES2022 baseline)

We target compliance against the following standards:

  • W3C WCAG 2.1 Level AA — current published conformance target
  • W3C WCAG 2.2 Level AA — in progress
  • EN 301 549 v3.2.1 — harmonised European standard for digital accessibility (basis for European Accessibility Act conformance)
  • Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act — where any service is procured by US federal agencies

We test using VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), NVDA (Windows), JAWS, browser developer accessibility tools, and automated checks integrated into our build process. We target compatibility with the latest two stable versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

6. Conformance evaluation method

Our conformance claim is based on a combination of automated testing (axe-core, Lighthouse), manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and code review against WCAG 2.1 success criteria. Where required for procurement or compliance, we can supply an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) using the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). To request, please use our contact form.

7. Preparation and review of this statement

This statement was last prepared on the date shown in the page header. We review it at least annually and whenever we make significant changes to our services. Our most recent accessibility audit was completed in April 2026. We retain records of accessibility feedback and our responses for service-improvement and compliance purposes.

8. Feedback and reasonable adjustments

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, mobile application, or any service we provide — or need a reasonable adjustment to access our services — please use our contact form and tell us:

  • The URL or location where you experienced the issue
  • The assistive technology, browser, and operating system you were using
  • What you were trying to do and what went wrong
  • Whether you would like a response and how to reach you

We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within two working days and to provide a substantive response within ten working days. Where the resolution will take longer, we will give you an estimated timeline and keep you updated. Reasonable adjustments under the UK Equality Act 2010 are made free of charge.
